Dear Northern New England Members,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying these long summer days for which New England is famous. As is traditional up here, we enjoy the present with one eye to preparing for the upcoming season. While gardens, trails, lakes and beaches beckon, rest assured your leadership is busy preparing for events that are right around the corner in the fall.
Our Planning Committee has been hard at work locating the perfect venue and assembling an agenda of speakers and events for our annual Scientific Conference and Business meeting. As is our custom, we rotate the location by state, and this ninth annual event will be hosted by New Hampshire. We are excited to welcome members and non-members alike to the Wolfeboro Inn in beautiful Wolfeboro New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee on November 8th and 9th, for a compelling program aimed at the issues facing those of us treating people with addictions in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Independent as we Northern New Englanders are, our chapter maintains a close tie with our parent organization, and we look to ASAM for support on issues that are important to our region. On September 15 and 16, I will be heading to Washington D.C. for the ASAM Chapter Leadership Summit. The focus will be on growing our chapter and learning more about effective leadership and organization. I will be networking and sharing ideas with Chapter leaders from across the country. I will have the opportunity to attend educational sessions on topics including fiscal responsibility, chapter operations, marketing, and media training, and will return with useful information to help make our Society of Addiction Medicine chapter serve you better.
Thanks to each of you for all you do,
